Dentist

I went to see the dentist today. According to her computer my last dental check up was ten years ago.
When I entered the cabinet she remembered who I was. And she gasped when she saw my teeth. *Gasped*, people! When a dentist almost gets an asthmatic attack when she sees your teeth it isn't because she can't find the words to describe your fabutastic looking teeth. She was shocked by the Dracula teeth theme I have going on. Oh, and the crooked one besides it. And the ones next to that one and...
And then she looked at my wisdomteeth and gasped some more. She even prescribed me some antibiotics because she predicts I won't be able to open my mouth some time next week due to infection or whatever. Not because I don't take care of my teeth, I do (except for the whole annual check up thing), but because they should have been removed months ago. So yeah, I'll have them pulled some time this year.
But the "best" news she gave me is that I need braces. Braces that I can't afford. I wore braces for about eight years, yes eight(!), and blah! I'm feeling so crushed at the moment that I can't even talk about that part right now. (It involes loads of money and two more pulled teeth)

Let's talk money now, to fuck some more with my emotional state. I'm looking for an extra job to pay for a house and a baby (and now I can add braces to the frikkin' list). (Oh, and we could use a new freezer/refrigorator, microwave, television and laptop.)
But altough I get phoned a lot I still haven't got one because of my crappy working schedule. But they all love me they say. Will keep me in mind and all that crap. I don't want love, I need money honey. And loads of it!

Oh, and I have another appointment with the dentist next week to talk operation and braces. She's just assumed that I can afford them although I stammered that I don't have heaps of gold laying around, waiting to be spend on shiny bits of metal plastered to my teeth.

*hugs you*
*hugs* I think some of these people park their humanity at the door when they enter their surgeries (ok, I know I am biased, based on my own experiences).

Perhaps you can discuss what *needs* to be done, as opposed to what they feel *should* be done?

*more hugs*

:(

I work in a dental office, the dentists just want to book their schedule, so they can have income, so of course they'll find a lot of stuff wrong with you. Get a second opinion, and maybe if necessary find a more affordable dentist. I do not treat my teeth in my own office, i can't afford them and no insurance, so i can feel your pain.If you want to see your teeth whiter, and not spend 600 bucks on zoom whitening, get the crest whitestripes. they work, but you have to coming to them and do it every day...but they only whiten your front teeth unfortunately, what darkness goes on on the back teeth, will stay in the back...as for the braces, no advice....i need some myself :(
