I am a sad junkie

My teeth are slowly turning me into a junkie. I seem to be counting the hours until I can take another a pill. Which is not good.
I still have blood seeping through my nose and the occasional cough with blood. Not so sure that's supposed to happen. Whatever. One hour and ten minutes until my next fix.

Oh, and I'm about to strangle the cats. Soes ate the plastic around the waffles I just bought for The Sweetie, Kiwi ate the actual waffles while Zena ate our plants. (I was in the land called "Nintendo DS" trying to forget I exist.)

Anyway I'll get back to my cooking now.

Small Update

* The Lazy Arse project is getting my arse in shape. I already lost some kilos, I feel more alive instead of a zombie and I'm getting some long lost muscles back. Yay! Dance class is great except when I have to do the "sexy" dance, my crosstrainer is sublime and highly addictive and running is okayish. I'm thinking about going for speed instead of distance 'cause that's more my thing. So yes, all is great in Lazy Arse land.

* Got my wisdometeeth pulled. I was nervous. When I got some papers in hospital that said "bodybag included" I was even more nervous. But I lived. And no, I don't resemble a guinea pig, my cheeks are a bit puffed that's all.

* Went to see Rufus last night. It was his last chance. I don't like his last CD all that much and he sucked big time at Werchter. The concert was OK. I liked the up tempo songs and the old ones the best. I guess I'll never get into his latest album. Too bad.

* That's it boys and girls. Check back in a month or so for more news. :D

Dentist

I went to see the dentist today. According to her computer my last dental check up was ten years ago.
When I entered the cabinet she remembered who I was. And she gasped when she saw my teeth. *Gasped*, people! When a dentist almost gets an asthmatic attack when she sees your teeth it isn't because she can't find the words to describe your fabutastic looking teeth. She was shocked by the Dracula teeth theme I have going on. Oh, and the crooked one besides it. And the ones next to that one and...
And then she looked at my wisdomteeth and gasped some more. She even prescribed me some antibiotics because she predicts I won't be able to open my mouth some time next week due to infection or whatever. Not because I don't take care of my teeth, I do (except for the whole annual check up thing), but because they should have been removed months ago. So yeah, I'll have them pulled some time this year.
But the "best" news she gave me is that I need braces. Braces that I can't afford. I wore braces for about eight years, yes eight(!), and blah! I'm feeling so crushed at the moment that I can't even talk about that part right now. (It involes loads of money and two more pulled teeth)

Let's talk money now, to fuck some more with my emotional state. I'm looking for an extra job to pay for a house and a baby (and now I can add braces to the frikkin' list). (Oh, and we could use a new freezer/refrigorator, microwave, television and laptop.)
But altough I get phoned a lot I still haven't got one because of my crappy working schedule. But they all love me they say. Will keep me in mind and all that crap. I don't want love, I need money honey. And loads of it!

Oh, and I have another appointment with the dentist next week to talk operation and braces. She's just assumed that I can afford them although I stammered that I don't have heaps of gold laying around, waiting to be spend on shiny bits of metal plastered to my teeth.

"Get off your lazy ass!" (3)

Today I used my bike to do some shopping. Normally I would've taken the car but I figured it is about time to kick the "Get off your lazy ass!" project into life again.
The Universe didn't agree with me though. My tires were flat due to lack of use (oops!), and there was wind and it was all uphill and... Enough reasons to get into my car and get it over with in ten minutes BUT sometimes I'm just stubborn. :-) Got on my bike, did the shopping, sweated like a pig and was home in thirty minutes. Now my ass is sore (I really need to invest in a decent saddle) but I feel quite pleased with myself. Eat that Universe! :-)

Routhy and I also started looking into some dance schools to satisfy our dancing feet but it isn't looking too good at the moment.
School1 is rather cheap, €129 for a whole year. But we are in a group with mostly 13 year olds. Bah! Not a real option. I don't want to be outshined by some skinny bouncy child. GoD, I'm a whinny old bitch.
School2 charges €73 for 14 lessons. We're going to an open day of that one, although it is rather expensive. But jamaisneutral tells me that if I want to dance I should dance. Which is really sweet of her as we don't have a lot of money laying around just waiting to be spent.
School3 doesn't even have the course we're looking for. And that calls itself a dance school. Tsk!
School4... ah wait there are only three schools in this city. Blah!

Oh, and in September I'm giving "start to run" my final try. If I don't succeed now I'm a big fat loser who needs to be severely punished by some bulky butch female fitness instructor. Hmmm.. that doesn't sound as bad as I thought it would. :D

Oh healthy eating habits where art thou?

I want to start eating a bit healthier so I feel more alive instead of sleepy all the time. All the diet and health freaks start with recording their eating habits for a week to see where there might be problems and it helps you think before you put stuff in your mouth. Everything that isn't water counts too e.g. sodas, juices, milk,... So I decided to do the same and bug you with it. Let me tell you, the result isn't pretty.

Monday 6th of August
3PM: breakfast cereal with milk
5PM: shared an apple with jamaisneutral
8PM: a glass of apple/kiwi juice
8.30PM: pasta filled with basil and parmesane cheese in a curry sauce served with baked apples

Tuesday 7th of August
3.10PM: breakfast cereal with milk
3.50PM: 1/2 glass of blueberry milk
5.50PM: 1 glass of blueberry milk
7.30PM: baguette with chicken coated with mozarella cheese in the oven
12.15AM: 1 glass of apple/kiwi juice

Wednesday 8th of August
12.30PM: breakfast cereal with milk
3PM: tiny piece of cake to please my grandmother cause she bought it especially for me
5.15PM: a penardo cake
7.30PM: fries from the chips shop

Thursday 9th of August
1PM: breakfast cereal with milk
5PM: apple thingie at IKEA
8.20PM: vegetable stew with rice
9.30PM: twix

Friday 10th of August
1.45PM: vegetable stew with rice
4.20PM: 1 glass of apple/kiwi juice
8PM: 2 slices of bread with surimi salad
8.20: toasted waffle + 5 cookies
10PM: piña colada
11PM: dürüm with chicken
>11PM: two cookies with chocolate

Conclusion:

I start and finish with food rather late.
I don't do breakfast, even when I get up at 8 instead of 11.
It seems that on most days I'm missing a meal too.
I'm not eating all that healthy. :S

It seems that my eating habits might be the problem for my sleepiness. So starting Monday I'll try and do breakfast. And have three meals a day.

On Saturday it was scorching hot. duvelman was so kind to invite us to his garden. He has grass, we don't, so the choice was easy! After reading in the sun for about three hours with intervals I looked like a lobster. "Yes", I'd used lotion and "no" no-one noticed anything until it was too late.
After a refreshing shower we went to the 'Lokerse Feesten' to see the Pet Shop Boys. In true tradition we argued in the car "en route" to the festival and we agreed that the next time I should drive instead of bitching about jamaisneutral's driving/parking abilities.
The concert was great minus one incident with some drunken prats. Drunk people are not fun!
On five hours of sleep (two for jamaisneutral) we went to Amsterdam. Due to some mix up about dates, we went to the aftermath of The Canal Pride instead of going to the real thing.
We met up with Dracorubio and <strike> went looking for shoes for Spikey, again</strike> strolled the streets of Amsterdam. We ended up at the afterparty of The Canal Pride.

There were some hot looking women, some scary men and hunky men but we were just really tired and didn't get to enjoy it too the max. :-(
And I must I've been really tired because I only took about thirty pictures and most of them sucked big time.

Right, that's enough of incohesive rambling.

Six day London trip

Spoilers ahead throughout my entire post.

We were welcomed in the U.K. with buckets of rain. The first test for our newly purchased bag. Luckily for us it was waterproof. :-)
We arrived at the hotel and got our key from a cute trainee surrounded by arguing staff. Nice.
We dumped our stuff in our claustrofobic little room and headed for Sectus to meet madscot.

Sectus to me was at times like high school: clique-y. No one talked to us and when we asked someone questions they looked at us like we were some odd species from outer space. Over the next days the atmosphere at Sectus changed. Some had read The Book, others hadn't. And the security level for spoilers was beyond any imaginable colour.
For me it changed a lot too. The lectures became more interesting. More participation, more theories. People talked more to each other, about farfetched and not so farfetched storylines, about the quality of the book and how J.K.R. screwed up most of the beloved characters. All of course in the spoiler section of the convention. I think everyone who didn't want to be spoiled was pretty safe until Steve Van Der Ark lost it completely at the auction. They should have thrown him out, but I guess famous people get away with more than others.

The first three days of our trip was filled with Harry Potter, madscot and OH, and I liked it a lot. When we weren't discussing the troll that is J.K.R. and how she messed up the love that is Snape we were eating at some Italian restaurant. At night jamaisneutral and I walked the streets in search of Culture and Landmarks like real tourists.

On Sunday we said goodbye to our Scottish friends and on Monday we welcomed Spikey. He had read the book online so Harry Potter was never far away. we scavenged the streets of London in search of the perfect shoes we didn't find and occasionally we went to see the sights.

I had a great time, although my feet hurt and I sleepwalked the whole day on Wednesday.

random remarks 'bout DH and London in general:
Going to a Harry Potter convention without reading the book but willing to be spoiled discussing matters was really interesting.

I believed and still believe Snape isn't really dead. There was no funeral, no portrait so he's not dead!! Oh, and when Fenrir was attacked by Trelawney J.K.R. wrote something along the lines of "and he moved no more". jamaisneutral believed this meant he was dead, BUT he joined the battle again in the Battle of all Battles. So when J.K.R. writes about Snape "and he moved no more"... see NOT dead. Ha! :D

Snape/Lily. Please... as if.

Why is that when we went to restaurants and diners we never were served by native Brits? Too good for them I s'pose... :-)

Bakeries in London are non-existent and when they serve something along the lines of a croissant it tastes like something that's been made three days ago.

I'm back!

There will be a detailed update soon about our six day holiday in London. Currently I'm busy with the pics and reading The Book. And plucking cat hairs out of the sofa, making a decent meal (wink @ madscot), buying tons of HP related stuff on the internets because Sectus was on that part a big letdown and enjoying the car. My feet are currently supporting a blister the size of London.
Anyway, back to cleaning the house and cuddling the cats.

London holiday

The last few days things got a bit crazy when it came to our holiday. After we had some trouble getting our train tickets for the Eurostar <strike>we</strike> jamaisneutral decided to e-mail the hotel we're staying at to confirm our booking. We got a mail back saying they didn't found our name, so "no we hadn't booked a room at their hotel. If we maybe could send some more info, sometimes the internet agencies book under their name..." jamaisneutral mailed all the info we had received and we waited patiently for an answer... that didn't came.
jamaisneutral then surfed to the site we booked our trip through reading aloud some answer on a FAQ: "when you have received an email confirming your booking you shouldn't be worrying, everything will be fine."
We both checked our accounts: nothing. At that point panic was starting to set in.
jamaisneutral ever the confident, serious, relaxed person decided to call the agency. And called again. And emailed. And emailed again.
It was nice and not at all nerve wrecking! hem hem.

But yesterday we got confirmation so we'll get to see [Bad username: Madscot"] and slashers and whine about how J.K. fucked up the last book. She will, I just know it. And after the Harry Potter convention I'll get to buy lovely all stars and relax in London's many parks. Yay!

Tiramisu

As promised the recipe for making tiramisu. A bit later than promised, I know, but I've been busy panicking about our pending trip to London and things at work are getting crazy. Anyhow...

ingrediënts:

250 gr mascarpone
50 gr sugar
2 eggs
1 pacquet (10 gr) of vanilla sugar
2 boxes of boudoirs
coffee
amaretto
cocoa powder

Put the mascarpone with all the sugar and the egg yolks in a bowl and stir until you get a smooth texture.

Whip up the egg whites until you can hold the bowl upside down without the egg whites dripping out.

Gently stir the egg whites under the mascarpone mix until you get a "fluffy" end result.

Poor some coffee and a sip amaretto on a plate.

Dip a cookie in the coffee. In and out principle, you don't want them to get too soggy! Repeat until you have filled the bottom of your dish.

Put some mascarpone mix on the cookies until you have cookies covered with a thin layer of masarpone mix.

Repeat until you have no more cookies and mix.

Put your tiramisu for a night in the fridge so it can stiffen.

Before presenting your dessert sif some cocoa powder on top.

Enjoy!

Excuse my crap English but it isn't easy translating specific cooking processes. :-/ I hope all who wants to give this a try understand what I'm trying to say...

After eating way too much tiramisu made by Spikey I have decided to make my own today. After a tutorial by the master himself of course. My collegues will be my guineapigs tomorrow. Muhahaha. :-)
Well, let's hope they enjoy it...

Now, if you'll excuse me I'll go do the ironing until jamaisneutral gets home. Then she can take over while I prepare dinner for our friends tonight. I love to cook, can you tell?

About friends,film and food

Saturday I went to see Shrek 3 with jamaisneutral, Spikey, Ellen, E-freak and his boyfriend.
I don't like or dislike this third part. In my opinion this one is more about oneliners instead of a storyline but hey, it's still funny. And aren't those little ones extremely cute?!
After the film we went to this Cuban themed café as E-freak's BF was in the mood for mojito's. Minth isn't really my cup of tea so I had a delicious piña colada. Yum, pineapple! We got home around three o'clock.

On Sunday jamaisneutral and I had a family (in law) dinner on our to do list. Family dinner and way too much alcohol are like the bestest of friends cause you always see them together. Anyway, I enjoyed my shrimp croquettes and all the fruit and veggies that got dumped on my plate. I even had so much to eat I couldn't finish my delicious coupe fraise. I felt like I could explode at any moment.
That evening we went to Spikey to watch some Battlestar Galactica. He'd made tiramisu and I couldn't resist, so yes I looked like a stranded whale. Fat tummy! :D

Werchter (2)

So Werchter... You know I said there would be about 60.000 people to squash me?? Think again! +76.000 is more like it. But lets start at the beginning...

I won't tell you about the trip to Werchter. All I can say is it took us about 4 hours and jamaisneutral (the GF) and I didn't like each other very much when we finally got there.

We got in and went trough this lousy security check. Yes, lousy! I could have smuggled in tons of drugs, audiostuff and my lovely SonyA. Aaargh! After we got our wrist bands we decided to eat outside the festival. Surrounded by drunken Dutchmen I ate my chips. I even saw this guy waving his c*ck at me for several minutes. When I finally got over the shock I was too late to notify the GF who was truly disappointed. :D

We got back in and went straight to the marquee to get us some good spots to see Rufus Wainwright. I have to say he disappointed me a bit. He didn't choose the best songs to play on a rock festival in my opinion.
And other factors contributed to the fact I didn't like his set all that much. One was being surrounded by Beastie Boys fans screaming "Beastie Boys" (the GF almost killed them) and two being that the sound was awful. Two things Rufus himself couldn't do much about but yeah...
Luckily there was this clothes change (pictured below) and some funny dancing which saved his set just a little. I even saw some evil Beastie Boys fans swaying around. :D

When he started singing his last song (Gay Messiah) I started to feel really uncomfortable as more and more people were trying to get in the tent for the Beastie Boys who performed after Rufus. It took me the whole damn song to get out and I wasn't that far from the exit. I got stuck several times between sweaty, huge, drunken, burly men. Not fun I can tell you!

After Rufus's set we strolled around the site a bit and ended up at the StuBru studio where we listened to the radio. They played Rufus singing live @ the back stage. I wish the soundquality in the Marquee was as good as in the back stage...

When Björk started her set on the main stage we listened for half a song. ("We are the <strike>arse</strike> earth intruders") Good friends as we are we even phoned the home front to let Spikey enjoy his Icelandic Pixie.
She squealed and screamed like one does when named Björk. She had this weird knitted SM mask on. Whatever.

We decided to check out the Beastie Boys but we got crushed when we tried to enter the area around the Marquee. We could just hear the front man saying people were getting slaughtered in the front lines, so if they could please stop pushing. Nnnnice.
So we went back to the Icelandic Pixie cause people where getting near dead experiences.
I almost got one myself listening to Björks squealing and at some point I think she was trying to reach alien life *out* there with her damn lasers so I entertained myself with my <strike>crap</strike> camera. Us:

Luckily Muse came on after way too much yelling (seriously: was Björk in pain??) and I danced the night away.

Conclusion: We spent way too much money on food and drinks, I don't like crowds and I seem to have turned into some old lady who likes to bitch about things. :-)

Werchter

Today the GF and I are going to Werchter. I can't bring SonyA so I had to pick up Ric at my mothers. I hope he does his best tonight!!

We really only went to this festival with way too many people on one meadow to see Mika but then he decided to cancel on us. Grmbl. But yes, we're still going 'cause we paid way too much money to cancel ourselves and I never went to Werchter before. It'll be an experience. <strike>I guess it is always an experience to be crushed by 60.000 people..</strike>

Anyway, if we ever get there (traffic jams of +/- 30 km around the damn festival town, parking space???) I'm sure I'll have a blast. It's music, it's the GF, it's fun!

But I'll miss SonyA for sure. *nods*

Dinner with friends

A week ago Foxy and I decided to have a monthly dinner date with Spikey and our boy/girlfriends. Wether they liked it or not! :-)
Last night we went to Spikey and taught him how to make lasagna. We made two kinds. One with and one without tomatoes as my stomach and gallbladder are acting up again. I have to say that Foxy was in charge and we were all running around trying to please her. Yes, we were a part of a very professional kitchen. :D
I had loads of fun preparing dinner, as food is one of many passions of mine. I learned a lot as expected when cooking with other foodafficionados.
After eating way too much lasagna accompanied with a glass of white wine we had Spikey's specialty: tiramisu.

We were never short of conversation and I had a wonderful evening!

When Foxy and her boyfriend left Spikey, the GF and I watched another episode of Battlestar Galactica. (s02e11) Cliffhanger!!
I really love the series especially Starbuck. :-) And they are highly addictive!! Must see another ep. really soon...

"Get off your lazy ass!" (2)

R. and I went rollerblading today. After we dusted the spiderwebs of our skeelers and after some adjusting to the fact that we had wheels for feet we started our journey alongside the local river.

Number of km: +/- 6
Number of blisters: 1 open one which hurts like hell
Times fallen flat on my ass: 0
Times waving my arms around like an idiot in order not to fall on my ass: +100

R. and I rewarded ourselves afterwards with some melon and a nice fruit juice mix. And we played on the gamecube. Not getting of our <strike>lazy</strike> asses. :D

"Get off your lazy ass!"

Project: "Get off your lazy ass!" starts tomorrow. I'm going rollerblading with a friend. Well, we're going to attempt not to fall on our ass while trying to maintain our coolness.
But it is a start. Right now I'm looking into dance lessons (street dance) but it seems impossible to get any concrete info on the Net concerning a school in the neighborhood. Which means I'll have to go and ask it in one of those places. I don't want to but hey, I want to dance.
Other tasks filed under this project: find some sort of exercising program for jamaisneutral and I. And restart our start-to-run program.

But all that starts tomorrow, right now I'll go and lay on the couch some more. :D

Kylie concert

Just installed Itunes 7.2 and the program found files I even forgot excisted. I'm listening to almost an hour of live concert of Kylie Minogue I illegally taped.(I'm such a bad ass)
It is so funny 'cause you can hear jamaisneutral scream "Pet Shop Boys" when she performs a "duet" with a taped Neil.
And I can hear the exact moment when the almost naked men appeared on stage. The crowd went ballistic. Yes and jamaisneutral and the two gay friends who came with us too.

The whole thing just puts a smile on a face while I'm ironing, and I hate ironing!

Concert (2)

[should have been posted yesterday]

Evanscence rocked my world yesterday. It was all I expected it would be. A very enthusiastic Amy who sang her heart out, a light show and a "freak"show. I loved looking at all the people who came to watch an American <strike>goth</strike> rock group. Some looked like they were ready to be bitten by a vampire, some were pregnant, some were old (+70), some were young (+/-10) and accompanied by their parents who either obviously wanted to embarass their kids by wearing flowy grandma dresses or who were really into it. :-)

The group before sucked big time. Four teenagers accompanied by a computer to produce the necessary beats to supply "the edge". Electro smothered by 4 guitars and a drum. It wasn't pretty, I tell you! I didn't even get their name as they didn't introduce themselves properly but they were obviously feeling home-y 'cause two didn't bother to wear a shirt. Little boys trying to act like grown up touring men. A bit sad actually.
Luckily they only "performed" five songs. Or six, I didn't quite understand when one ended and the other began and they all sounded alike. Horrible.

I was really glad Amy came on stage and made us forget those teenagers in a mere three seconds! Yay for her. I loved all the songs she performed (of course) and I even saw the GF shake her goodies. Yep, she didn't end up below the balcony. *proud* She just now asked me to play something of the group (yes, I was playing Marija instead of Evanscence). I'd put on this (click below)

<lj-embed id="3" />

but she wanted something with more guitars. Ah yes, I'm teaching her well. :D

Next concert on the agenda: Mika & Rufus Wainwright

[Yay!! LJ is back!!!]
